چکیده

We propose and analyse an augmented mixed finite element method for the Oseen equations written in terms of velocity, vorticity, pressure with non-constant viscosity homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition velocity. The weak formulation includes least-squares arising from constitutive equation incompressibility condition, we show that it satisfies hypotheses Babu\vska-Brezzi theory. Repeating arguments continuous analysis, stability solvability discrete problem are established. is suited any Stokes inf-sup stable pair velocity pressure, while vorticity generic space (of arbitrary order) can be used. A priori a posteriori error estimates derived using two specific families subspaces. Finally, provide set numerical tests illustrating behaviour scheme, verifying theoretical convergence rates, showing performance adaptive algorithm guided by residual estimation.

Vorticity-velocity-pressure formulation for Stokes problem

We propose a three-field formulation for efficiently solving a twodimensional Stokes problem in the case of nonstandard boundary conditions. More specifically, we consider the case where the pressure and either normal or tangential components of the velocity are prescribed at some given parts of the boundary. The proposed computational methodology consists in reformulating the considered bounda...

Spectral element discretization of the vorticity, velocity and pressure formulation of the Stokes problem

We consider the Stokes problem provided with non standard boundary conditions which involve the normal component of the velocity and the tangential components of the vorticity. We write a variational formulation of this problem with three independent unknowns: the vorticity, the velocity and the pressure. Next we propose a discretization by spectral element methods which relies on this formulat...

Spectral Discretization of the Vorticity, Velocity, and Pressure Formulation of the Stokes Problem

We consider the Stokes problem in a square or a cube provided with non standard boundary conditions which involve the normal component of the velocity and the tangential components of the vorticity. We write a variational formulation of this problem with three independent unknowns: the vorticity, the velocity and the pressure. Next we propose a discretization by spectral methods which relies on...

Vanishing Viscosity in the Plane for Nondecaying Velocity and Vorticity

Assuming that initial velocity and initial vorticity are bounded in the plane, we show that on a sufficiently short time interval the unique solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations converge uniformly to the unique solution of the Euler equations as viscosity approaches zero. We also establish a rate of convergence.

An analysis of HDG methods for the vorticity-velocity-pressure formulation of the Stokes problem in three dimensions

We provide the first a priori error analysis of a hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin (HDG) method for solving the vorticity-velocity-pressure formulation of the three-dimensional Stokes equations of incompressible fluid flow. By using a projection-based approach, we prove that, when all the unknowns use polynomials of degree k ≥ 0, the L2 − norm of the errors in the approximate vorticity and p...
